On November 15, Dr. Yaneer Bar-Yam, president of the New England Complex Systems Institute (NESCI), delivered a Web Briefing entitled “After Sandy: Preparing for Crisis.” In the briefing, Dr. Bar-Yam discussed lessons from both Hurricane Sandy, and Hurricane Katrina and how those lessons can help cities, states, and the nation better prepare for large-scale disasters. The NESCI website offers a number of presentations on the impact and lessons learned from catastrophes.
