Promising New Discovery in Fight against Influenza Strains A and B

Two teams of researchers from the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California and the Crucell Vaccine Institute, headquartered in Leiden in the Netherlands, have jointly published a paper in the journal Science announcing that they have discovered “human monoclonal antibodies” that have proven successful in protecting mice against influenza strains A and B. “These antibodies may inform development of monoclonal antibody–based treatments and a universal flu vaccine for all influenza A and B viruses.”
