The 2012 Hurricane Season

The 2012 Atlantic hurricane season officially begins on June 1. On May 24, at 11.00 am (ET) the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) held its annual news conference to announce the outlook for the 2012 season. Already posted on the National Weather Service National Hurricane Center website is a PDF detailing both changes to the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale for the 2012 season, and the many ways in which information and updates will be provided by NOAA and its operating agencies throughout the hurricane season. The hurricane season officially ends on November 1.
