Michael Parkyn

Manager, Human Systems Division

Mr. Parkyn leads the Homeland Security Studies and Analysis Institute’s Human Systems Division, which provides objective studies and analyses to improve configuration, performance, efficiency and integrity of organizations and personnel through rigorous analytic processes.

As an active duty Marine, Mr. Parkyn served in diverse locations, completing three combat tours in Southwest and Central Asia as a Marine aviator, and serving on the National Security Council staff. As a Marine fighter pilot, he designed, conducted, and evaluated aircrew training. Additionally, he specialized in aviation safety and mishap investigation for his squadrons. He instructed graduate-level courses at Marine Corps University, participated in force structure planning for the Marine Corps, and represented the Corps in Defense Science Board studies. 

Mr. Parkyn earned a bachelor of science at the United States Naval Academy, a master’s degree in military studies at the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and was a USMC fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Security Studies Program.
