Dedication to the Homeland Security Mission

We are devoted exclusively to supporting the homeland security mission. While other not-for-profit organizations and FFRDCs address aspects of the homeland security mission space, we operate under a single contract and dedicate all our efforts, intellectual capital, and resources to strengthening homeland security.

Independent

FFRDCs came into being to provide independent analysis not biased to favor commercial interests or to endorse the position of a client. HSsaI is congressionally chartered and subject to congressional oversight not typical of private-sector companies, other not-for-profit organizations, or even other FFRDCs working in DHS. HSsaI has a statutory requirement to report its activities to Congress every year. HSsaI is the only FFRDC focused solely on supporting the homeland security mission and was envisioned by Congress to serve as a long-term strategic partner to DHS.

Integrated Approach

Our researchers use a multidisciplinary team model to ensure that disparate stakeholder perspectives are incorporated. We ensure that we fully integrate policy, economic, and operational constraints as well as considerations relating to technical performance in all that we do.
