13 - Meetings Focus on Terrorism Preparedness and Response

concluded a series of 16 meetings across the state designed to inform
local government officials, educators and emergency service providers
of the status of the terrorism threat and response in Kentucky.

1 - Notice to Airmen regarding airports near nuclear sites
-- For reasons of national security the Federal Aviation Administration
has issued a temporary flight restriction (TFR) for all general
aviation (GA) flight operations within 10 nautical miles (below
18000 feet MSL) of nuclear sites. [view

25 - KyEM Develops Bio-Terrorism Information Program -- With
the recent focus that has fallen on anthrax reports and hoaxes,
the most important tool an emergency manager can have in his kit
is accurate information. With that in mind, the training branch
of the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management has developed a
presentation called The Truth About Anthrax. The presentation
provides speaking notes and visuals to aid in the efforts to deal
with public concerns about biological terrorism, specifically anthrax.

19 - Tips
For Dealing With Bioterrorism Related Fears / Anxiety-- The reports
about Anthrax, as well as the attacks of Sept. 11, have led to understandable
fears in people about their own safety. The Cabinet for Health Services,
in consultation with other agencies, is offering some practical
coping strategies for adults and children feeling anxiety related
to possible acts of terrorism.
