November 2001 - Florida National Guard Defends Ports, Nuclear
Plants -- Governor Jeb Bush has directed the Florida National Guard
to expand its role in providing temporary security assistance at
several of Florida's seaports and nuclear plant facilities. The

the State Division of Emergency Management were tasked by Governor
Bush to produce the following document which offers advice on improving
the existing emergency response framework and strengthening Florida's

October 2001 - Medical Doctors to Receive Credit for Terrorism
Preparation Course -- In an effort to make Florida's medical doctors
better equipped to diagnose and treat effects from nuclear, biological,
and/or chemical terrorism, the Florida Board of Medicine has passed
an emergency rule. The rule permits licensed physicians to substitute
one hour of continuing medical education in nuclear, biological
or chemical terrorism for one hour of continuing medical education
in HIV/AIDS, domestic violence or end-of-life care.

October 2001 - Domestic Security Advisory Panel Holds First
Meeting -- Governor Jeb Bush today participated in the first meeting
of the Domestic Security Advisory Panel. It was held at the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement headquarters. The eleven-member panel
was created by Governor Bush to provide recommendations and evaluate
the implementation of improvements in state domestic security. [view
