Mr. Jerome Kahan has a B.S. from Queens College and a M.S in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. He has more than 40 years of experience in the national security field. During his State Department career, Mr. Kahan held positions as member of the Policy Planning Staff, Deputy Director of the Political-Military Bureau, Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Turkey, and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Intelligence and Research. Mr. Kahan also served in the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency and DoD. Between government assignments, Mr. Kahan was a Fellow at the Brookings Institution, where he authored or co-authored three books and a series of articles on strategic policy and arms control. Prior to joining the Institute, Mr. Kahan was senior policy analyst at Systems Planning and Analysis, a position he accepted after serving as Director of Regional Studies at the Center for Naval Analyses. Mr. Kahan has taught at the Air Force Academy and the Foreign Service Institute. He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Security Studies Program at Georgetown University. Mr. Kahan is a Fellow in the Institute's Operations Directorate.
